Step 1

If you have a child or children interested in playing rugby with us then contact us to arrange to pop down to the club on a Sunday morning to meet your coach or a member of the team.   We offer an initial free trial session at one of our Sunday morning training sessions.  Mouthguards are required for U9 upwards and can be purchased from the clubhouse, but comfortable clothing suitable for sport is perfectly acceptable.   We recommend rugby boots are worn, except when training on Tewkesbury School all weather pitch.

Step 2

Before your child/children can play for Tewkesbury Tigers they must be registered on the England RFU GMS (Game Management System).  This system has been set up for grassroots rugby to track the player’s career from junior to senior and maybe even to the professional level in the future.

If you would like to proceed please complete the pre-registration form so that we can process your membership.  View our FAQ’s below for further information.

Step 3

On receipt of your pre-registration form, we will send you a link to register/create a profile for your child/children on GMS.  You do not need to create separate profiles for each child.  Please make sure that you verify your account once it has been created.  England RFU has created some helpful tuition videos that will help you with this process, and you can also download our own GMS user guide but if you have any problems registering please do contact us.  Visit our GMS page for more details

Step 4

When you have successfully created profiles on GMS we will then verify on GMS that you are a new member of Tewkesbury Tigers.   You will be sent an email confirmation and request for payment. Membership fees must be received before the start of the new season.  See our FAQs for benefits of membership and costs.  If you are joining the club mid-season please contact us to discuss membership fees

You’re all set!

On receipt of payment of your membership fees.  You’re all set to start playing Rugby.   You can purchase a wide range of Tewkesbury Tigers kit through our online shop.  We also have a selection of second-hand items available through the clubhouse on a Sunday morning.

You can also get involved with the club by Volunteering.  We always need volunteers to help – perhaps you could help run the Kit Shop on a Sunday morning.  If you would like to know more about volunteering just contact us.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I join Tewkesbury Tigers?

Visit our New Player registration page to find out more about how to join.

What age can my child start playing rugby?

Boys and girls can start playing rugby at Tewkesbury Tigers from age 6 (Year 2).  RFU guidance requires the child to have reached the right age for their group as of 1 September.  E.g. a child must be 6 by the 1 September in order to join the U7’s.

Are you an accredited club?

Yes.  We are the junior section of Tewkesbury RFC an accredited club of  both Gloucestershire RFU and England RFU.  You can find more information in our About Us section.

What is GMS?

The RFU’s Game Management System (GMS) is the primary platform to support the grassroots game in England. A multi-functional system, GMS has a variety of modules that allows us to manage our operations, specifically player registration.

All participants of the game must be registered with RFU in order to play.  All players and their parents/guardians have the ability to login to GMS to update personal details and ensure their communication preferences are up to date.

Note: From 1 January 2020 it will become the parents/guardian responsibility to ensure that their child/children are registered within GMS.

How do I register on GMS ?

Once you have completed your pre-registration we will send you a link to the GMS login page.  From there you will need to create a new profile for you and your child/children.   Our GMS page has a link to the RFU GMS website with helpful tutorial videos and as well as our own GMS user guide.

What happens if I join from another club?

GMS has been developed by the RFU to track a player’s rugby journey from the day they start playing rugby to the day they retire.  Each player will have one unique record within GMS that will follow their career. Players that are already playing at a Rugby Club and subsequently move to Tewkesbury Tigers can be transferred  on GMS from the old club by us.  A new player profile does not need to be created if you already have an existing RFU unique ID on the GMS system.  Please contact us for further details

What happens if I leave the club?

If you decide to leave Tewkesbury Tigers to move to another club or have decided rugby is no longer for you please make sure that before you move to a new club you contact the registrar of your new club who will help to organise the transfer on GMS.  A new player does not need to be created the record should exist on the system.  If you are no longer going to play rugby then please send us an email so that we can update the system.

Unfortunately, we are unable to refund membership fees.

Do you play tag / contact rugby?

Visit Our Teams page which will give you a full overview of the different stages of the age groups and what they learn and when. Tag rugby is played up to the U8’s.

Photography Permissions

We regularly use photographs of all our teams to promote our activities.  However, we will NOT use any photographs unless you have given your permission/consent through GMS.

If your child takes part in any competitions they will need to have a match card issued with their photograph in order that they can take part.  This can be uploaded through GMS.

Following the changes announced by the Government on Wednesday 9 September in relation to the ban on groups of more than six people meeting socially indoors and outdoors. Although social gatherings of more than six people will be banned in England from Monday 14 September, the Government has confirmed that organised sports and activities that have been through return to play protocols can continue. With the exception of clubs impacted by local lockdown restrictions, we remain at Stage D on the Return to Community Rugby Roadmap. The rugby community can continue to organise non-contact fixtures with other clubs using Ready4Rugby and other touch rugby activity.

Please see our Clubhouse page for more information about Track and Trace and face-coverings.
